In 2011 Alberto Savoia (Google GTAC), James Whittaker (StarWest), and Goranka Bjedov (STANZ) presented keynotes at various software testing conferences. James Whittaker led the pack by delivering a keynote at Star West titled “All That Testing is Getting in the Way of Quality”. But in the aftermath, it was likened to the “Testing is Dead” keynote. Now keynotes are typically controversial and thought-provoking. James certainly hit the goal on the both counts. But he did something perhaps unintended. He generated a backlash of sorts and ultimately community action. And it’s still going strong… Join well-known testing and agile consultant and coach, Bob Galen, in this session focused on getting yourself into the value-stream of your organizations. Bob will start by asserting that testing is NOT dead. However, it IS changing and not simply undergoing technical change. No. Your roles are morphing quite significantly and broadly and, if you don’t adjust, you’ll be quickly left behind (at best). Bob will take you for a ride backward and then forward—sharing his thoughts on getting back to the future of testing and in the middle of your organizations value stream.
